ARTA
In June 1988, ARTA (Research and Traditions in Acting) was founded,
under the impulse of Ariane Mnouchkine,
by the five theaters of "La Cartoucherie", the Théâtre de l'Aquarium,
the Théâtre du Chaudron,
the Théâtre de l'Epée
de Bois, the Théâtre
du Soleil and the Théâtre
de la Tempête.
The prime and essential goal of ARTA is to offer to western
actors the possibility
of a one-month work with the most famous Masters of theatre.
At the creation, ARTA, directed by Lucia Bensasson and Claire Duhamel,
organized workshops in the different
theaters of "la Cartoucherie". In 1994, the City of Paris, with
the participation of the Ministère de la Culture
allocated to the association a new building "la Maison Blanche" in La Cartoucherie.
